Philadelphia is unique in that it’s in its own county, the most populated county in the entire state of Pennsylvania.
Northeast Philadelphia (shown as the orange sections in the map above) refers to the large group of neighborhoods in the North and East sections of the city. The area is divided into two groups – Near Northeast and Far Northeast Philadelphia.
- The Near Northeast Philadelphia area contains Fox Chase, Burholme, Rhawnhurst, and Bells Corner neighborhoods shown above.
- The Far Northeast contains Bustleton, Pennypack, Parkwood, and Somerton neighborhoods shown above.
Interestingly, there are no defined borders to the neighborhoods. This is just the terminology that locals use.
